New Top 10 List! Top 10 Most Frustrating Characters!!!!

I have definitely come across some characters in my reading that I'd love to throttle. There's even one or two in my writing that drive me crazy. A prime example of that being Ariel in Adventures in Funeral Crashing (still free as an ebook, btw!) because she can just be so mean and yet...maybe there's still a friendship there between her and Kait, so why is she being so mean?

Check out the full list of my Top 10 Most Frustrating Characters on my blog Writer Girl in LA! Top 10 Tuesday is an internet meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and I try to participate every Tuesday!

Here's 3 of my picks:

1. Tally from Pretties & Uglies & Specials by Scott Westerfeld - Okay, by the time I got to Uglies, I was getting annoyed with her. I can't read Specials because I'm still mad. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed Pretties, but sometimes I just didn't like Tally very much. I mean, I understand the horribleness she's going through - well, as much as I can since I don't live in that world, but still she started driving me crazy!

2. Dolores Umbridge from The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling - I was just so frustrated for Harry because when Dolores had him in his grip, he was powerless and she was oh, so evil! So, I was angry and frustrated for him.

3. Becky Bloomwood from the Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella - Don't get me wrong - I love, love, love Becky, but she can get a little frustrating when she takes things too far! I laugh at first, but then it sometimes gets painful! Like, I'm in the middle of Mini Shopaholic and um, Becky, come on - don't make Luke's assistant hound him about you wanting to have another baby! The poor assistant! And, okay, maybe that's because I've done the whole assistant job, but still! Ahhhh! Frustrating!

That's only 3 of my 10, well kind of, to see more check out the full post on my blog Writer Girl in LA: Top 10 Most Frustrating Characters!

New Top 10 List! 10 Settings In Books That I'd Like To See More Of!

Settings are so important and I've been taking them for granted in my reading. In my writing, though - setting is everything! I mean, one of my series is about funeral crashing for goodness sake! So, setting is definitely very, very important! This top 10 just made me think a lot more about it and it actually gave me a couple of ideas for future books.

Check out the full list of my Top 10 Settings That I'd Like To See More Of on my blog Writer Girl in LA! Top 10 Tuesday is an internet meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and I try to participate every Tuesday!

Here's 3 of my picks:

1. Paris, France - Okay, maybe I'm just dreaming of going there, but I'd like to read some more books set in Paris, France. Hey, a really good story will make me want to go there more!

2. Alternate Universes - Maybe I'm just too much of a Fringe-a-holic (shhh, I didn't watch the last season yet and I don't want to know!) but I love the idea of alternate realities and stories that are set in them all coming together!

3. Catalina Island, CA - I went there on a mini honeymoon after getting married and it's a cute little island. There could be some fun stories written about living there! Like, quirky characters! Maybe that's another novel I need to write!

That's only 3 of my 10! Some of the others are reading goals...because I'm a reader too! Make sure to check out the full post on my blog Writer Girl in LA: Top 10 Settings I'd Like To See More Of

New Top 10 List: Top Ten Books For People Who Liked Adventures in Funeral Crashing!

Adventures in Funeral Crashing

Did you like my book Adventures in Funeral Crashing? If you haven't read it yet, it's one of the free ebooks on Amazon kindle, nook, itunes, smashwords, etc! Anyway, if you loved the book then this list is for you! And, of course, if you liked that book, you might just like my other books like the sequel  Adventures of a Graveyard Girl or my other mystery book The New Girl Who Found A Dead Body.

Moving onto other authors, though, you might want to check out these books if you liked Adventures in Funeral Crashing:

1. Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella: It's a mystery and a funny Sophie Kinsella book all wrapped into one! There's even a ghost! Okay, there are no ghosts in AIFC, but I was going for the fun vibe that Sophie Kinsella books have, even if there's serious topics in between.

2. Fear Street series by RL Stine: Okay, these really scared me when I was a teenager (loved them though!) and I know they're kind of old now, but they were great fast mystery reads and there are a ton of them. Yeah, I guess I hope there's a moment of scariness at least in Adventures in Funeral Crashing - it is a mystery book!

3. Size 12 Is Not Fat: A Heather Wells Mystery by Meg Cabot: Heather Wells is an ex-pop star who now works in a college dorm. A mysterious death happens in her dorm and Heather finds herself solving a mystery! Besides mystery and suspense, the series is cute and funny, with a lot of romantic tension! It's very much in the same vein as AIFC. By the way, my new Heather Wells book just came in the mail - Size 12 and Ready to Rock! Woo-hoo!

New Top 10 List: Top Ten Best Villains In Books

It's top ten list time again!

Check out my Top Ten Best Villains In Books on my blog Writer Girl in LA! It's an internet meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and I try to participate every Tuesday!

Here's a sneak peak at my top 3...

1. Lord Voldemort from The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling - I mean...he's so villainous that nobody even dares to say his name! You have to be pretty evil to get that reputation!

2. The Volturi from the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer- They just felt really, really, really creepy every time I read about them in those books, which for the most part weren't scary and just fun reads...but The Volturi - they creeped me out.

3. Mrs. Rochester in Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte- Okay, maybe I just gave it all away. It is a classic, but then again she is classically villainous.

New Top 10 List: Top Ten Books For People Who Like Author Meg Cabot!

It's top 10 list time again...since it is Tuesday!

Check out my Top Ten Books For People Who Like Author Meg Cabot on my blog Writer Girl in LA! It's an internet meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and I try to participate every Tuesday!

Here's a sneak peak at my top 3.....

1. Sophie Kinsella books - Sophie Kinsella rocks! She's so funny! Her Shopaholic series is still
my favorite, but I read everything she writes and I always enjoy it! I always listen to Becky's inner monologue and go - yup, I totally think like that! I NEED that scarf! It goes with everything!

2. Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich - Okay, I haven't read these yet, but my cousin assures me they are laugh out loud funny. I'm hoping they remind me of a grittier version of The Heather Wells Mysteries. They're on my list for the simple reason that I am hoping for a Meg Cabot like book read, just maybe a little more adult in nature.

3. The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants by Anne Brashares - It's not quite the same because they're about a group of girls, but these books roped me in, in the same way that Meg Cabot books do. So, it's on my list.
